CANVAS PAINTING collaboration EVENT

At Poet House Art, August 1, 2008

Friday night’s free event at the Poet House Art came off famously. Twenty local artists came together to jam for over five hours; painting, drawing, scratching, and splashing their way through 40 feet of canvas. The creative juices flowed and the group worked hard. Images range from friendly trees to withered women to bicycles and flowing jugs.

I guess that maybe 500 people walked through the the venue as part of downtown Art Walk and checked out the action while gulping down some wine.

Thank You artists for your hard work. Thank you volunteers and RIse Up for putting it up and taking it down. Thanks to the Poet House for providing the venue. Some pieces of last years canvas were sold and some very generous folks (Anita & Alex) made a really nice donation to Rise Up India. Far Out you’re awesome, and thank you so much.

ART FOR INDIA 2007 (last year)

Thank You for joining us last year for the first annual Art For India charity event held on Sunday September 23, 2007 at Silver Moon Brewing (24 NW Greenwood Avenue, Bend, Oregon 97701).

Two canvases were painted by 17 local artists who volunteered their time, talents, and materials to create these fabulous explosion of color. These canvases were sold piece by piece at the ART FOR INDIA event. Generous people selected a portion of the canvas for your very own. Their selected piece was be cut out and placed in to a simple matte.

All monies raised went directly to the school in Baukour village in the state of Bihar in India. The school is the vision of local artist Sheri Foster in collaboration with RISE UP. RISE UP is dedicated to getting 100% of all funds raised at the event directly to the school. Through sponsorship and volunteers there were no administrative or overhead costs.

Fine brews, good music and art. The first annual Art For India event was a great success.
